Avron Levin Named MiEN Senior Director of Furniture Innovation

MiEN Company Names Avron Levin Senior Director of Furniture Innovation

MiEN Company has announced that Avron Levin will join the organization as Senior Director of Furniture Innovation. In this role, Levin will lead MiEN’s creative design team and guide the company’s collaborations with schools, colleges, and other educational institutions to design agile, active learning environments that support contemporary instruction and engage diverse learners.

Levin brings more than 20 years of experience in educational furniture and learning-space design to MiEN. He will lead a creative team composed of Mariely Leon, Nathan Warwick, Scott Thorr, and Cory Ellison, who together will develop solutions aimed at improving learning outcomes through intentional, human-centered furniture design.

Levin commented on his new position: “One of the reasons I’m thrilled to be part of MiEN is that the company shares my vision of intelligent design as the best way to truly answer the needs in education today. Another reason is that MiEN has invested in a robust and talented product design team. In fact, it’s the only education company of its kind that has its own designers focused on its own product. Other companies use consultants, but consultancies tend to spend a limited time in the education market, so they can’t develop a true understanding of education or learners’ needs. I’m committed to using the insights I’ve gained over the years to help MiEN deliver innovative and insightful design for clients.”

Throughout his career, Levin has concentrated on designing furniture and environments that promote engagement, collaboration, and flexibility. In 2012 he founded NorvaNivel, a company focused on designing and manufacturing furniture tailored to learning spaces. Under his leadership as creative director, the organization produced solutions intended to foster interaction and adapt to varied pedagogical approaches.

After stepping down from NorvaNivel in 2023, Levin spent time consulting and sharing his design expertise with clients in Israel and the United States before accepting the position at MiEN. Remco Bergsma, CEO and founder of MiEN Company, said, “I have been familiar with Avron and his educational furniture designs for many years, consistently impressed by his thoughtful and innovative products. His designs seamlessly integrate meaning, form, and function, creating solutions that enhance educational environments. When he became available to the market, we seized the opportunity to hire Avron. MiEN has forged its own sterling reputation in the industry, and we believe that Avron will be key to our continued progress. We’re looking forward to seeing his solutions for the next generation of educational environments.”

What This Means for Educational Design and Active Learning

The appointment signals MiEN’s continued commitment to research-driven, purpose-built furniture for classrooms and collaborative spaces. Intelligent furniture design—combining ergonomics, durability, flexibility, and aesthetic sensibility—plays an important role in modern education by enabling multiple modes of instruction, improving accessibility, and supporting student well-being. With an in-house design team under Levin’s leadership, MiEN aims to deepen its ability to tailor products to the evolving needs of educators and learners.

Levin’s experience in founding and directing a company dedicated to educational furniture gives him a practical perspective on both design and production. That background, paired with MiEN’s manufacturing and supply relationships, is positioned to accelerate the development of adaptable classroom systems and furnishings that encourage active learning—where furniture itself becomes a tool for collaboration, movement, and differentiated instruction.
