Discovery Education, the company behind widely used K‑12 learning solutions, announced a series of product enhancements during a virtual event led by Chief Product Officer Pete Weir. Designed from direct feedback by school and district partners, these updates aim to make teaching and learning more relevant, engaging, and personalized for educators and students using Discovery Education products.
Key upgrades were introduced for Discovery Education Experience, the platform that supports engaged K‑12 classrooms by providing curated resources, instructional supports, and tools that help teachers plan and deliver meaningful learning experiences. Highlights of the Experience updates include:
- Improved personalized recommendations for teachers: Experience now includes a Core Curriculum Complements feature that automatically surfaces engaging, handpicked resources aligned to district and school curriculum priorities. This reduces lesson planning time and supports better alignment with local standards. In addition, Experience delivers individualized content suggestions tailored to each educator’s profile and preferences, as well as recommendations informed by patterns of use among similar teachers. These refinements help teachers discover materials that are immediately relevant to their classrooms.
- Enhanced AI‑powered assessment tools: Building on capabilities introduced in 2024, Experience now offers a more robust AI‑assisted assessment workflow that helps educators generate high‑quality assessment items from vetted resources within the platform. Teachers can customize assessments by reading level, question type, and cognitive demand (for example, Bloom’s Taxonomy), review and refine generated questions, and export items into a variety of formats for classroom or online use. These tools are intended to support formative and summative assessment practices while saving teachers time on item creation and alignment.
- Career exploration for all Experience users: Career Connect, an award‑winning career exploration tool that connects classrooms with industry professionals and real‑world workplace context, is now available to all Discovery Education Experience users. Through Career Connect, teachers and students gain access to career pathway resources, virtual field trips, and profiles that introduce the skills, innovations, and professionals that define today’s workforce. These additions help build career awareness, spark exploration, and support students as they consider future opportunities and pathways.
- An enhanced Instructional Strategy Library: The Instructional Strategy Library has been redesigned to be a one‑stop hub for research‑backed teaching strategies and professional learning supports. The updated library streamlines discovery of popular instructional approaches, connects strategies to model lessons and activities, and provides practical resources that teachers can implement immediately to increase engagement, efficiency, and instructional effectiveness.
Discovery Education also announced several improvements to DreamBox Math by Discovery Education, its adaptive math solution that offers scaffolded, engaging lessons which adjust in real time to each student. The DreamBox updates focus on stronger lesson design, usability, and alignment to classroom instruction:
- Major lesson updates: Based on educator feedback, DreamBox Math’s most popular lessons have been updated to improve accessibility and success for students. Enhancements include better scaffolding to support learners through each step, clearer context to link mathematical concepts to students’ everyday experiences, richer visuals, and increased interactivity to promote deeper understanding.
- Refreshed middle school experience: Middle school students will see a more vibrant, modern user interface and an updated Lesson Chooser that makes it easier to identify teacher‑assigned lessons alongside personalized recommendations. The reorganized layout and visual cues aim to reduce friction and help students navigate their assignments and independent practice more confidently.
- Interactive Curriculum Guide: A new Interactive Curriculum Guide strengthens the connection between DreamBox Math lessons and school systems’ core instruction. Educators can explore content by grade and standard, preview lessons, and play sample lessons to better understand how DreamBox supports classroom goals. Ongoing updates to standards and curriculum alignment will continue across the year to support targeted instruction and planning.
